I notice the small things, and I think the women I design for do too. So I spend a lot of time on the hardware, stitching and the small touches you only see up close, like the signature rose embroidered into most of my pieces.
About me
Hi, I'm Sairah.
I started Madame Patrôn in Birmingham because I couldn't find the clothes I wanted to wear, so I decided to design them myself.
I've always had quite an androgynous style. Strong shoulders and oversized silhouettes with lots of structure were my style long before it was everywhere.
Every piece on this site started as a sketch in one of my notebooks.
My story
How Madame Patrôn started.
For years I did most of my shopping in the men's section. It had the shapes I wanted, but nothing was cut for my body, and I missed the softer details I loved in womenswear.
The women's section had the opposite problem. I wanted pieces that had both, and I could never find them.
the process
How each piece is made.
Every piece starts as one of my drawings. I work with a manufacturer in China to turn it into a sample. There's a lot of back-and-forth to fine-tune the details.
I want everything to be perfect, from the weight of the fabric, to the hardware and where each detail sits. After that, it's made in a small, limited run.
A lot of my pieces are sold on pre-order. That way, I only make what's actually wanted and nothing ends up sitting in a warehouse.
The best thing is you get something not many other people own. It does mean a wait, but I think it's well worth it, and I'll always tell you upfront exactly when yours will ship.

What I care about.
Pieces that hold two things at once.
I love clothes with a bit of tension in them. When there's something sharp next to something soft, dark tones with a pop of colour, or tailoring with a boxy edge. That mix is really what Madame Patrôn is.
Clothes you'll actually wear.
I'd rather you own one piece you reach for all the time than five you wear once. Everything I make is designed to work with what's already in your wardrobe.

The details.
Hardware.
I'm fussy about hardware, so I use gunmetal buckles and zips that feel solid when you fasten them.
Fabric.
I want my pieces to feel substantial when you put them on, so I go for heavier fabrics like faux leather, thick jersey and wool blends. They hold their shape much better too.
The rose.
The rose is my logo. I stitch it into most pieces, subtly, because I'd rather you noticed it up close than from across the room.
Structure.
After all those years in the men's section, I love volume. I shape the shoulders so my pieces look oversized on purpose, rather than just too big.
